Recently, people have been blaming a "focus on individualism" for turning kids into entitled little douchebags, but it's so obviously the exact fucking opposite. It's this collectivist mindset where "you have to bring enough for the whole class" and "everybody gets a trophy" that teaches kids to focus on what others have. An individualist doesn't feel a right to any other individual's property, and doesn't recognize any other individuals claim to theirs. Envy, jealousy, and self-entitled-douchebaggery all arise from dwelling on others, not yourself. Adam Carolla brakes it down perfectly:
When you focus on making everyone the same, you necessarily spend all your time focusing on people's differences. That's why every collectivist movement inevitably breaks into factions. Any group has a "top 1%", even Occupy Wall Street:
Good news everyone… You're definitely going to live forever (and not that "Live on forever in the memories of your loved ones" bullshit... the important way). You know those Goddamn internal organs of yours that keep threatening to "fail" every time you live life enjoyably?... Well those bitches can go fuck themselves. They're about to be totally replaceable:
This is fucking outstanding. There's no longer any justification for using government force to stop "unhealthy behavior". So… Disband the nanny state, right? Legalize all drugs immediately. Abolish trans-fat bans and salt limits. From now on, the Government can completely focus on people who actually hurt other people, and never again say "It's for your own good." As of today... everyone can go back to minding their own fucking business.
It's long been understood that the "Music Video" is the ideal information delivery system ("Conjunction Junction" settled that debate years ago), so it's about Goddamn time Austrian economists became more hip-hop focused:
This weekend (while you were hopefully getting spectacularly drunk and being escorted out of several bars) the 2011 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was happening in DC. For the second year in a row, Libertarian-Conservative Ron Paul won the straw poll, and (as usual) he delivered a fucking dominant speech:
Radio talk show host Herman Cain gave the weekend's breakout performance... When this guy runs for President, it'll be Goddamn entertaining:
